What to do in Lennox Head

Where to Eat, Drink, and Play in Lennox Head

  • Williams Street: Is our favourite local café. Great food and a laid-back atmosphere. It’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and has live music on the weekends. Our pick here is the eggs benedict with locally honey-cured ham.

  • Kopi: Arguably Lennox Head’s best coffee right smack bang in the middle of the main street where all the action is taking place.

  • Papaya: A newer kid on the Lennox Head block, Papaya has wonderful salads and smoothie bowls, as well as beautiful local fresh flowers.

  • Lennox Head Bakery: An institution with the locals this is a traditional Aussie bakery at its best. The $5 bacon & egg roll is a solid breakfast staple.

  • Quatro: Delicious Italian food and a wonderful dining experience. It sits opposite the beach with super friendly and helpful staff. A great dinner option.

  • Lex Thai: Delicious Thai food and recently nestled into a new location, this one comes highly recommended.

  • Lennox Pizza: In a brand new location right in the center of town, Lennox Pizza is an absolute institution. Be sure to try Organic Orgasmic – and they’re big! Menu here.

  • Shorties: A local little bar doing great food and cocktails.

  • Lennox Pub: If you’re after a typical Aussie pub, you just found it ;) See more here.

What to do in Lennox Head

  • Walk Lennox Point: You can walk from the south end of town all the way to the top of the point and beyond on a great new walkway that travels right alongside the water. Ask any local and they’ll point you in the right direction. Once you get to the point take the stairs right to the top – then if you’re adventurous you can keep walking south down to Boulders beach (and all the way to Ballina if you fancy!)

  • Swim in Lake Ainsworth: Located just behind the Surf Club Lake Ainsworth is a tea-tree stained dunal lake. The council have recently upgraded all the facilities there, and it’s beautiful for swimming, SUPing and picnicking, especially if the winds are blowing as it’s protected. See more here.

  • Surf: Main beach for beginners and the point for experienced surfers only (hint - respect the locals, they can be gnarly).

  • Swim: If the winds are calm there’s a patrolled beach right in front of the surf club. If the winds are up head down to the Lennox boat ramp, right at the south end of the beach which is much more protected and family-friendly.

  • Killen Falls: Located a 10-minute drive away on the other side of the highway Killen Falls is home to one of the last standing remnants of the big scrub rainforest. It’s a short walk down (steep in one section) if you fancy a dip, otherwise, it’s easily accessible from the car park if you just want to take a look. It’s worth the trip. See more here.

  • Newrybar: This little village is 15-minutes away where you’ll find a handful of gorgeous shops, and the popular Harvest Restaurant. Visit on weekends for bakery treats too!
